* Then I went down into the basement where my friend the maniac busies himself with his electronic graffiti. Finally
his language touches me, because he talks to that part of
us which insists on drawing profiles on prison walls. In
that moment, poetry will be made by everyone and there
will be emus in the zone/

Who am I/

I am a recent graduate from the University of
Lincoln with a BA (hons) in Interactive Design
for which I have been studying for the past three
years. In this time I have gained a variety of skills
and techniques to aid me in designing across a range
of media platforms.

My background prior to my degree does not lie
within design as I have never studied or learnt any
skills that coincided with this choice of subject. This
instant disadvantage encouraged me to learn quickly
and develop the skills that were needed.
Over the three years I have been exposed to all
aspects of design. This has heightened my view
of everyday objects from a users perspective to
that of a designers. I never used to scrutinize type
on shop signs or enjoy the smell of certain paper
stocks or even find a photocopier fascinating. Now
all three, and more, are part of my life. I want to take
this enthusiasm for design with me into the creative
industry where I can develop my knowledge further.

I have recently been given the Undergraduate Prize
2009 for the Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design.
The award is for 'Best Student BA (hons) Interactive
Design'. I am very pleased to have been given this
prize and it shows the dedication, hard work and
effort that I have put in over the last three years.

Personally I am a Mac user but am also capable in
using a Windows based personal computer (eurgh!).

I am confident using InDesign, Illustrator
and Photoshop. I also have some knowledge in
using Flash, Dreamweaver and some video/sound
editing programs. My strongest skill is my ability
and willingness to learn.

I have had to learn programs and techniques
because work that I have produced has demanded
it and I intend to continue this in the future.
This year I have worked with the Lincoln University
and the Lincoln School of Art and Design to produce a
range of promotional material that was predominantly
for prospective students. This promotional material
consisted of a blog for all degree courses within the
Lincoln School of Art and Design to get involved with
posting current information about the happenings on
the individual courses. Along with a blog, posters and
flyers to promote the faculties end of year show were
also produced.

What have I been doing/

Community Project 01/                                                                   ^

A positive impact had to be made upon a community
of our own choosing. Users of Adobe software were
my chosen community which I produced a selection
of posters and flyers that displayed keyboard
shortcuts for use within the programs.

ISTD Project 02/                                                                              ^

Environment/Typography was a brief set by
ISTD to explore an environment and to find what
type was possibly hidden within. I chose the globe
as my environment and more specifically humans,
animals, plants, and all living things. Mutual Annihilation
was my topic, which is; the destruction of the earth from
nuclear attack by more than one state. I explored the type
forms that could exist as a result of Mutual Annihilation
and documented them within a book.

Hindsight Project 03/                                                                     ^

Hindsight was a self initiated brief where I chose
to document my online Facebook status updates. The
exaggerated book size and use of materials and colour,
reflects the transparency and self indulgence of these
status updates.

LSAD Project 04/                                                                             ^

I was approached by the University of Lincoln to
establish a website that could be self run to display
all aspects of Lincoln School of Art and Design. Each
degree course has their own space to post information
about ongoing activities throughout the year. I was
also asked to produce promotional posters and flyers
for the Lincoln School of Art and Design degree show
week which was a great success.

Mail Art Project 05/                                                                         ^

Mail Art was a guerilla mailing project. The topic
was surveillance and a set of postcards and badges
were the only criteria set by the brief. The brightly
coloured circles within my design are to represent
an eye and are to be worn as a sticker. My approach
was to produce a selection of postcards and badges
as a guerilla advertising campaign that had cohesion
and unity within it's design.

The player will show in this paragraph

Audio/Motion Project 06/                                                              ^

Movement and sound were captured from a structure
made completely from technological components to
create this trance inducing tech-no video.

* Kingfisher is the king of all beers, and probably the king of
all fish, or is that the shark? Is the shark a fish? Why have I called it 'the' shark? Its a shark surely ... Well, in the end a kingfisher is actually a bird ... The bird/
